I think I've blogged about Tenor Alfie Boe before. When I was in London last October he was appearing at the Royal Opera House as Tybalt in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette and much to the excitement of those of us on the backstage tour he was just about to rehearse onstage. He also appeared on the Royal Variety Performance with three other 'Jean Valjean's' from Les Miserables (Colm Wilkinson, John Owen Jones and Simon Bowman) as the Valjean Quartet in November.
During the festive holiday Alfie featured on the Matt Lucas documentary I mentioned yesterday, he appeared as Jean Valjean in the 25th anniversary concert at the O2 as well as doing a run at The Queen's Theatre in the West End. As well as that he was also Matt Lucas' roommate for the duration. Matt Lucas posted a phenomenal video of Alfie singing Nessun Dorma in his kitchen!!
He has a new album called 'Bring Him Home" featuring classic songs from musicals out now. What more could you want? Britains best Tenor in a generation singing songs from musicals!!!
The track listing is;
Bring Him Home from Les Miserables
Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka
Come What May (ft. Kerry Ellis) from Moulin Rouge
On The Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady
We Have All The Time In The World from On Her Majesty's Secret Service
