I'm on a theme...
Based on the novels of Sergei Lukyanenko and set in contemporary Moscow, Night Watch (Ночной дозор) uncovers the other-world battle that upholds a 1000-year-old truce between the forces of Light and the forces of Darkness. For centuries, the undercover members of the Night Watch have policed the world’s Dark Ones –the vampires, witches, shape-shifters and sorcerers that wage treachery in the night -- while the Dark Ones have a Day Watch that in turn polices the forces of Light. The fate of humanity rests in this delicate balance between good and evil but that fate is in jeopardy …
Ancient prophecy foretells that one day a “Great One” will arrive who can end the apocalyptic battle between Light and Dark conclusively. That time has arrived in Moscow – but which side will the Great One choose?
This is a raging cyclone of a movie. In both story-telling and cinematography this will leave your head spinning, it is twisted, mysterious, bold, compelling and rich in ideas.
One year on, Anton continues to fight the forces of Darkness while simultaneously attempting to find and save his son from the clutches of those same forces. But when Dark Others start mysteriously being killed, and Anton is framed for their murders, he must put that goal on hold and try to escape the Day Watch that is looking for his blood.
The follow up to Night Watch follows the rule of sequels: bigger, louder, longer, more
self-conscious, but not better. If anything, it's even harder to follow, but it
doesn't really matter. You just try to hang on for the ride, which is fun and
exhilarating and visually stunning -enough to make your eyes goggle.
